Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

When you sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services does the subscription show as active there, or still unpaid?

If active, please try these steps if you haven’t already:

    • Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that the subscription is linked to.
    • Then, open any Office app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and click "Update License" to refresh your license status.

    If issue still persists:

Before installing, it’s a good idea to uninstall all existing versions of Office to avoid conflicts.

    Here’s how:

    • Open the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Look for any version of Microsoft Office or Office apps, right-click, then choose Uninstall. Please uninstall all Office apps.
    • Once that’s done, restart your computer just to be safe.

    Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
    • Find your Microsoft 365 Subscription and click the "Install".
    • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.

If anything’s unclear or the "Install" option still doesn’t show, feel free to let me know. I’ll be happy to walk you through it!

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

The sign-in prompt after renewal usually means Word is not seeing the active subscription or is using the wrong account/license.

    Follow these steps in order:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active
      1. Go to the Microsoft account Services/Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      2. Sign in with the email address used to buy Microsoft 365.
      3. Check that the Microsoft 365 subscription shows as Active and not Expired or Canceled. If it shows expired, renew it to continue using Word.
    2. Make sure Word is using the same account
      1. Open Word.
      2. Go to File → Account.
      3. Under User Information, check which account is signed in.
      4. If it is different from the account that has the active subscription, click Sign out, then sign in with the correct account.
    3. Update or refresh the license in Word
      1. Still in File → Account, look for an option like Update license or Manage account.
      2. Click it and sign in again with the account that has the active subscription.
      3. Close Word completely and reopen it, then test creating a new blank document and pasting content.
    4. Check for activation or subscription warnings If Word shows messages like “Unlicensed Product,” “Subscription expired,” or “Subscription canceled,” follow the activation troubleshooting:
      • Sign in with the right account as above.
      • Ensure there is only one copy of Office installed, as multiple copies can cause activation conflicts.
      • If the subscription is expired, renew it to restore full editing and copy/paste capabilities.

If the subscription is confirmed active, the correct account is signed in, the license is updated, and Word still prompts to sign in or blocks editing, contact Microsoft Support for further activation help.
