All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

    Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

    What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

    Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

    Are you using a laptop or desktop?

    Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

    Press Windows key + i and go to System;

    Click Display;

    Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

    Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

    Verify that the second monitor is detected;

    See you soon!

    So this is a malfunction of Microsoft and the user who can't stop Microsoft updates is forced to fault find and fix errors made by micrsoft to 'improve' our system. Great!!!

    I firmly believe Microsoft users want LESS BUGS. Dear Microsoft, please stop rolling out updates and improvements that cause more or new bugs.

    Settings>About My PC>Device Manager>Display Adapter>(right click)>Detect Hardware changes.

    I just ran into this this morning after the most recent update and got both externals working for me! (Intel GPU)

    Dear ScrP,thank you for the informations;

    In that case I suggest you download the AMD driver detection tool which will help to update the graphics drivers:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support

    Then disconnect all monitors and connect them again;

    Hope it works, see you soon!

    I have had a similar issue with a Lenova T14 Thinkpad connected to a Samsung M8 display as a second monitor via a HDMI cable.

    I found that the second monitor can be detected when I turn on the monitor before powering up the laptop (e.g., restart or wake from sleep). Makes me think the HDMI port is disabled if no signal detected during start up or wake up.

    I could also detect the second monitor if I unplugged and then plugged in the HDMI cable to the laptop (with the second monitor turned on).
