On the Storage Blob exercise, I am noticing that I can't successfully create a Storage blob. The instructions are as follows:

  1. Sign in to the Azure portal at https://portal.azure.com
  2. Select Create a resource.
  3. Under Categories, select Storage.
  4. Under Storage Account, select Create.

When I select Create I am greeted with a "Welcome to Azure!" page User's image

If I click start Azure free trial, it wants me to enter a credit card for the trial. This can't be right.. can it? FYI I am currently on my Microsoft learn sandbox tenant when I follow down this training path. Hence my surprise when it's asking me for a credit card. Does anyone know how I can create this storage without payment details?

@Gagnon-MacAleese, Ryan (SSC/SPC) I had this same problem and just figured it out on my own.

I had to wander on over to the following exercise:

Azure Fundamentals: Describe Azure architecture and services -> Describe the core architectural components of Azure -> Exercise - Explore the Learn sandbox

Once in that exercise you can click the button to create a Sandbox. Once the sandbox was created, I was able to come back to the Exercise - Create a storage blob unit and it worked for me.

@kobulloc-MSFT This seems incredibly complicated and not user friendly. If the Exercise - Create a storage blob requires a sandbox to be created, there should be an option in that exercise to create a sandbox.

Hello, @Gagnon-MacAleese, Ryan (SSC/SPC) ! Where am I seeing this?

How do I access my Learn profile in the Azure Portal? You'll need to first activate the sandbox (this will give you a Learn directory you can use) and confirm that the default directory is set correctly: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/support/faq?pivots=sandbox#what-if-im-not-in-the-right-subscription

If you sign in to the portal and are in your own subscription (or you sign in to your subscription and end up in the sandbox), one of two things might be wrong. Either you haven't activated the sandbox or your Azure settings put you in a default directory. You can change the directory by selecting the Directory and Subscription filter button on the toolbar along the top. "Directory and Subscription filter" button on the toolbar

The button opens a drop-down list where you can select the correct directory. You can also change the Set your default directory setting to the directory that you work in most often. Settings menu for "Directory + subscription," where you can select your default directory

When you activate the new sandbox, the old sandbox environment is destroyed, along with any resources created in it.

If you have additional questions, please let me know in the comments and I would be happy to help you.
