I am unable to login to the Azure Portal - my personal account is locked

When I attempt to login to the azure portal with my personal account (not linked with any organisation) I get the following message:

Your account has been locked. Contact your support person to unlock it, then try again.

There is no support person I can contact as my account is my own. I have tried using different browsers, and changing my password to no avail. Please can someone guide me how I can gain access to the azure portal with my microsoft account?

    If you are the only global admin on the account and are blocked entirely, you can reach out to the Azure Data Protection team to restore access. 866-807-5850

    Also, for the future, you can create an emergency access account (break glass) in Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization because you can't sign in for any reason. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/roles/security-emergency-access

    I understand that you're trying to login to the Azure Portal with your Personal account, which isn't linked to any Organization, but you're running into the error message above. To hopefully help point you in the right direction or resolve your issue, can you share more information so I can gain a better understanding of your issue?

    • Since your personal account doesn't belong to any Azure AD tenant / organization, can you share why you need to access the Azure Portal?
    • Does your user belong to a Personal Azure AD tenant that you created?
    • Have you ever been able to login to the Azure Portal with your personal account?

    If you've never created an Azure AD tenant, been invited to an Azure AD tenant, or signed up for Azure, you'll have to first go through the set-up process by activating an Azure Free Trial or Pay As you Go subscription. For more info - Get started with Azure.
