I bought sell laptop from JBHiFi last year. Since then I didn’t have any issue with the overall performance. Recently there was a system update notification and ran the update only to notice that it was asking for a Bitlocker recovery key. As expected, I tried looking in my Microsoft account but it says there isn’t any key there. I then thought that I might be able to recover thru my university Microsoft outlook account which I use for official use and yet again I couldn’t find it. I even contacted IT help desk at uni but they said they can’t find any. Lastly I asked JBHIFI retail to get help but they weren’t any help to me. Please help with regard this issue. How will I be able to retrieve it ? Also I tried to use Microsoft help but the service isn’t available at the moment.

Hello @Yeshi Tshering , to find your bitlocker recover key using your student account follow the steps detailed in View or copy BitLocker keys. If none is found there's the chance somebody else enabled bitlocker and saved the recovery keys in his account or that it was not saved to the cloud in the first place. If you're still able to log into Windows then you can try disabling bitlocker on all data disks and finally on the OS disk.
