Hi all,

I have been trying to install the Windows configuration update (KB5030509) but the Windows update is not installing even after restarting the device. I have renamed the software distribution folder and restarted the following service, but I had no luck. I also ran sfc and DISM scans. I have the following commands

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop cryptSvc
  • net stop bits
  • net stop msiserver User's image

I own an AMD based motherboard. I have had this problem since September 26th, 2023. I have had to restore my system from a backup that was made before the update was pushed to my computer multiple times. ( I would turn automatic updates back on to see if Microsoft had fixed their problem or not. They never did fix the problem.) Finally, I decided to reinstall windows 11 pro over my existing 11 pro installation. I downloaded the media creation tool for windows 11 and created a bootible usb drive. I had to change some of my bios settings to allow booting from a usb drive and restarted my computer. It booted from the usb drive and when I chose to reinstall windows over the existing windows it had to reboot again from the internal drive to do the installation to keep all of my existing programs programs and data. The installation took a while to run. It removed all of my old windows 7 games that I had manually installed and it removed my ASUS armoury crate. ASUS uses armoury crate do updates to its drivers and software. (I had suspected that there was a conflict between AMD and Microsoft). The ASUS armoury crate is used to update the AMD drivers for the x570e chipset. Now my automatic updates is working again and my system is up to date with updates. HOWEVER, now my m.2 ssd drive is slow again. It went from 600MB/s to 125MB/s doing backups to an external usb drive. Now I have to fix the slow system response (it can take up to 30 seconds to start some programs) and slow ssd performance. I suspect that they are related. The internet has some solutions listed that I will be trying. Stay tuned for future updates!
