I just started with Azure and have created a subscription and added Communication Service resource.

I am getting this error when trying to get phone number
"Your current subscription is not eligible for Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) and SMS products."
snap

I have setup billing account for this subscription and based on the subscription eligibility page my geography is supported (Malaysia). May I know how to resolve this? I am planning on getting a phone number to send sms via communication service

    Hi Zi Kang Loo,

I had exactly the same problem, besides being based in a different location, and comes out it was due to my subscription type. I was not using a paid Azure subscription (Pay as you Go).

Also, you need to request the number by doing an application, using the email acstns@microsoft.com as per the documentation - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/communication-services/concepts/numbers/phone-number-management-for-malaysia

Did you send the email? Thanks

@Zi Kang Loo Thanks for reaching here-

It seems like you are having trouble obtaining a phone number for your Communication Service. Based on the error message you received, it appears that your current subscription is not eligible for Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) and SMS products.

To resolve this issue, you may want to check if your subscription is a paid Azure subscription. Phone numbers cannot be acquired on trial accounts or by Azure free credits. Additionally, you may want to ensure that your billing address is in a supported region.

You can check the supported billing locations on the subscription eligibility.

If you have confirmed that your subscription is a paid Azure subscription and your billing address is in a supported region, you may want to reach out to the Azure Communication Services support team for further assistance.

Use the below tables to find all the relevant information on number availability, eligibility and restrictions for phone numbers in Malaysia.

To acquire a phone number, you need to be on a paid Azure subscription. Phone numbers can't be acquired by Azure free credits. Also, due to regulatory reasons phone number availability is dependent on your Azure subscription billing location. More details on eligible subscription types are as follows:

    |Toll-Free and Local (Geographic/National)|Modern Customer Agreement (Field and Customer Led), Modern Partner Agreement (CSP), Enterprise Agreement, Pay-As-You-Go|

** Applications from all other subscription types are reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Reach out to acstns@microsoft.com for assistance with your application.
