The Advanced Recovery Companion application from the Microsoft Store (https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9P74Z35SFRS8?ocid=pdpshare), used to recover / reflash HoloLens 2 devices is not working anymore following a server being taken down this week between the 10th of September and the 20th of September. The server in question is api.swrepository.com. As a result of this server vanishing, the application is unable to download and fetch latest FFU firmware software for HoloLens 2 and requires having one already downloaded to recover a device, from another source, mirror, or an older download. This brings issues when said FFU file is not available anywhere for download.

It is not possible for us to work around this as the app depends on this server to be able to download the latest firmware files for HoloLens 2 and it is therefore impossible for us to recover our devices.

The server being brought back up would solve the issue we are hitting.

Is there any way for Microsoft to bring back this server online? The application cannot function without it.

As LocalJoost mentioned, please download the latest FFU firmware manually via this link: https://aka.ms/hololens2download. Ref from Restart, reset, or recover HoloLens 2:

When you plan to use Advanced Recovery Companion to install an FFU offline, you must download your flash image first Download the current image for HoloLens 2. Automatic download and flashing is no longer supported.
