Dear all,

Does anyone know how to TURN OFF passwordless sign in on the Microsoft authenticator app?

The instructions are less than helpful.

(1) The first instruction is to turn it off through the authenticator app. There is no function within the app that allows for this. I have no idea why they state it is possible.

(2) The second instructions states to sign into the Azure portal - azure active directory - security - authentication methods. I have tried this for the past three weeks. The Azure portal - security button cannot be selected.

There has to be a logical reason they have made it impossible to turn off.

Here are 2 ways to disable the passwordless sign in option.

    1) App method :
Choose the account for which you want to remove the password less sign in feature.

Select disable phone sign in. Go through the process to remove it.

    2) From azure portal, an admin or someone with authentication policy administrator account can perform this. Select push as configure method.

    1) Within the app, you can click on the small arrow on the right top corner of your credential entry, select "Disable phone sign-in"

    2) The Azure AD portal blade can be accessed directly here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/AuthenticationMethodsMenuBlade/AdminAuthMethods
Do note that you need to have permissions to access it, so if you are trying to do so as end user it will not work.
