Trying to sign into email but the authenticator app is telling me to into a code into the authenticator app that i'm already in

Question

I am in a nightmare looping in circles. Trying to add my email to my new iphone. Can't sign in with a password. Tells me to enter a code into the authenticator app - but I'm already in the authenticator app so I can't.

Can't sign in using web browser. Same issue.

There is NO verification code anywhere so please don't ask me to enter that in. Authenticator is asking for a 2 digit code that I cannot enter, see above.

App is up to date. Outlook is update to date. All is up to date.

So many people with the SAME issue but NO answer anywhere that works. Just an endless loop.
