Try this: Settings>Appearance>Show extensions button... Now you can hide those extensions
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I just went to use Edge and the extension icon had appeared in my toolbar, I right clicked it and selected to hide it but then suddenly all my extension icons appeared on my toolbar taking up space. I now cannot hide any extensions that don't need any interaction from me (such as antivirus etc.) and they are talking up a lot of space.
I tried uninstalling it, but all I could do was Repair it, but nothing worked. I cleared my cache etc and nothing worked. All bar one extension come from the Chrome Web Store.

I seem to have managed to fix it myself by doing the following:
Someone tell me if they find a fix for this. Looking for a new browser as we speak, yet again...
MS Edge is far better than Chrome.
Solution:
Go to Settings >Appearance>Select which buttons to show on the toolbar>Enable Extensions Button.
When Extensions Button appears on the toolbar, you will have the option to hide your extensions.
So to hide your extensions from the toolbar, you need the Extensions Button to appear on the toolbar.
If you click it, it will list all your extensions.
Bonus: After you fix this, download Ultra Button Extension. It helps manage everything that is in the tool bar for you.
I was also having the same issue. And later managed to figure that out. To hide all the extensions from your toolbar, you should, first of all, enable the Extention button to be shown on the toolbar. If the Extention button is hidden from the toolbar you will not find any option for each extension to hide. So, after enabling the Extention button, you can right-click on each extension and can hide them. This is as easy as that!
Hope you are having a great day:))

The top answer is catastrophically wrong, so I hope I can help. The option "hide from toolbar" is grayed out whenever the "Extensions" button is not opted-in to appear. To make it appear, go in "Settings -> Appearance" and select that button. Then you'll be able to hide extensions.
I do not know if this is intended, or a bug.
