Hi, recently my computer crashed and has corrupted my .dat files on my accounts package.  I have decided to reinstall the software (Quickbooks 2006) but when I try, I get the message "setup cannot find c:\windows\COMMAND.COM and therefore aborts the setup.  Can anybody help?

Hi Madmaz,

Step 1 in detail:

i. Click start button->type in %windir%/system32 in the search bar and hit enter.

ii. On that window, search for command.com

iii. Highlight and right click on it and select copy

iv. Again click on start button-> Type in %windir% and hit enter

v. Right click on the blank space and select paste.

Hope this helps.

I want to install QuickBooks SuccesPME 2007 in French and I get the error: "Setup cannot find COMMAND.COM".  I have Windows 8.1.  I tried the steps listed above and they do not work.  I did not find the directory or file.  What do I do next?
