When you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive a "0x80246007" error code

Log in as an Administrator and check the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).

Start button || Control Panel || System and Maintenance || Administrative Tools.

Double-click Services

(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)

Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service and select Properties.

Select General tab – make sure that Startup type is Automatic (Delayed Start)

Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it is not, Start.

    I tried this last step and when my computer tried to install windows live there was an error saying I already have another build on my PC. (?) I cant find it... My update history shows I have two failed installations... what to try next?

    This solution does not solve the problem, I have received this error message for 7 months now (since june 2010 ) with regard to the ‘windows live’ update download only???

    I got this error too. My BITS is activated. Has anyone found another solution to this. Please help!
