When you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive a "0x80246007" error code

Log in as an Administrator and check the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).

Start button || Control Panel || System and Maintenance || Administrative Tools.

Double-click Services

(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)

Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service and select Properties.

Select General tab – make sure that Startup type is Automatic (Delayed Start)

Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it is not, Start.

    I have completed the instructions stated and Service pack 2 will not install and has given me error messages 80246007-80080005-80041002-80041002

    I have tried to install service pack 2 I have followed the protocol at least a dozen times and it reverts to changes.

    I added a new expanded string called AppData and put the "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming" in the string.  You might try that instead of changing the Common AppData.
