Any way to apply folder view settings specifically to subfolders?

I do NOT want my folder settings to be applied to all folders, just a particular one plus its sub folders.

Like for example I have a picture folder with a bunch of pictures as well as folders which also contains pictures. Now when it comes to pictures, I like them to be Large Icons with the sorting done as Date Modified - Ascending . Instead of having to do that manually for every single folder within that folder, can I just make changes in the main folder and apply it specifically to the subfolders ?

You can apply it to a single folder or as many as you want all at once.  Just "lasso select' (or ctrl-click or whatever you want to do to highlight the folders you wish to change), then go to properties.  You can change all the folders you want at the same time.

For example, let's say I want program files, users, and temp to all be considered picture folders, and use that template.  I can select them, go to properties, and change them all at once.

    Nothing is useless :)

    Hi Surkis

We can apply the settings to all subfolders by clicking on the “Apply to all folders option”. To do the same follow the below steps:

    i.           Open the folder where you want to change the settings

ii.         Set the settings which you would like to have

    iii.       Click on organize

    iv.        Folder and search option

    v.          Click on view tab

vi.        Click on ‘Apply to all folders”

Refer the below link for more information:

Will that apply all of my settings to every folder on my computer or just that folder and all the folders within it?

The former sadly. Which is a bit stupid really in this day and age.

I have this problem too. I had to go with changing folder options for the entire computer. It seems the lesser of two evils, at least for the short term - i may regret it when i next revisit other folders!

I guess this problem is due to explorer, rather than deeper issues with the operating system - the state i want to change to is the same as would be achieved by going to every subfolder, and every subfolder of every subfolder and so on, and right clicking, setting view, right clicking, setting sort by, and so on for every option.

Are there any alternatives to windows explorer that people can recommend to fix stuff like this? Ideally something where i can turn off auto arrange too, although i hear this is due to some deeper bugs with windows 7.
