Windows Update Error Code: 80072EE2

Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition, Microsoft Security Essentials, and windows firewall. I keep getting the 80072EE2 error.

I have no idea what to do about this. Ive already tried all the methods in both:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072ee2

with the exception of the Method F and the Advanced methods: B/C.

Ive been trying to update since last night, so I dont think waiting anymore will help.

Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter driver.

(Also tried the little "fixit" button on this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/bfbdec70-e928-47ee-b073-665c4851bf4c)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fireblaze,

I am sorry it took so long for me to get back to your thread.

I would suggest you to follow the steps listed under **"Advanced troubleshooting methods"**in the following article:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

    On this page:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/i-got-an-error-code-from-windows-update

    Microsoft says that error means:

If you receive this error while checking for updates in Windows Update, the Windows Update servers might be experiencing an unusually high number of requests for updates. Close Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. You can also wait for Windows Update to run at its next scheduled time.

If that didn't work, try to add the Windows Update websites to your firewall exceptions list, and then run the Windows Update again.

If you are having Windows Update issues I would not start making any adjustments to your system until you have the known fixes for WU - which has been afflicted for many months and the solution is usually very simple.

For hundreds and perhaps thousands of systems the solution is usually very simple.

There are two discussions that should help:

Windows update problems?   Read this first.

    and/or

    Windows 7 Update Solution

If you still have trouble with WU join in on one of those popular and active discussions.

That suggestion is for a very specific and uncommon Windows Update issue.

If you are having Windows Update problems you should start by clicking this link:

Windows Update Problems?  Read this first.

If that doesn't help start a new topic/question about your specific issue.
