Windows Update Error Code: 80072EE2

Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition, Microsoft Security Essentials, and windows firewall. I keep getting the 80072EE2 error.

I have no idea what to do about this. Ive already tried all the methods in both:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072ee2

with the exception of the Method F and the Advanced methods: B/C.

Ive been trying to update since last night, so I dont think waiting anymore will help.

Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter driver.

(Also tried the little "fixit" button on this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/bfbdec70-e928-47ee-b073-665c4851bf4c)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fireblaze,

I am sorry it took so long for me to get back to your thread.

I would suggest you to follow the steps listed under **"Advanced troubleshooting methods"**in the following article:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

I think the solution to the problem of 80072EE2 is to wait and try again later.

Wait and try again later is also the solution to this error:

If you have not followed the advice in either of these discussions you should:

Windows update problems?   Read this first.

    and/or

    Windows 7 Update Solution

Feel free to jump in to the discussions to tell of your success or still have issues or questions.

I also think the registry key is not the problem but that registry key can cause a different problem.

That reply is yet another example of somebody telling you what to do but not telling you how to do it *sigh*.

Here is a discussion about the registry key issue, the symptoms and ways to delete the registry key:

    Hello,

I note this is an old thread, but maybe someone is still monitoring the problem of

Error code 80072EE2 when attempting to install Windows Updates for Windows 7.

    This is constantly happening.

So - for the above answer, to remove said key, how would I do this?

    Thanks.

Yes i also have the same error message. This is a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit install and the disc was released in 2016 and just after installing all of the drivers, I try to update Windows by running Windows Update and it gives me this error:

I originally experienced this same error before while using another Windows 7 Professional 64-bit copy of windows and tried to buy another copy to fix the problem but obviously that has done nothing at all.

Why hasn't this been patched yet?.
