Windows Update Error Code: 80072EE2

Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition, Microsoft Security Essentials, and windows firewall. I keep getting the 80072EE2 error.

I have no idea what to do about this. Ive already tried all the methods in both:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072ee2

with the exception of the Method F and the Advanced methods: B/C.

Ive been trying to update since last night, so I dont think waiting anymore will help.

Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter driver.

(Also tried the little "fixit" button on this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/bfbdec70-e928-47ee-b073-665c4851bf4c)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fireblaze,

I am sorry it took so long for me to get back to your thread.

I would suggest you to follow the steps listed under **"Advanced troubleshooting methods"**in the following article:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Thank You so much for your help.

I went into the registery and  deleted this entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU "UseWUServer"=dword:00000001

After this , reboot the server and windows found all available updates for me.

    Thanks again.

Many manufacturers distributed images with a policy set defining a automatic update server.  The concise answer to this problem is to remove that registry key.  The key is:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU

remove this key, reboot, and windows updagte will work.

    It's woking.

    Thank you...:)
