Ok WarningU2, I hope it works for her. Happy New Year to both of you and may 2018 be QB trouble free - it can be taxing when the Accounting system you depend on is not performing reliably.

While Using a part of Quickbooks, I receive a "Crash: Com Error" Message. After I click OK on the window, all of Quickbooks shuts down. After about 4 hours on Intuit Tech Support they told me that this is a windows issues. Does anyone have any suggestions? I heard something abour fixing the registery for Vista, but could not find it on this site. Thanks.

I am now getting this error message any time I click on an invoice; which is not good since it's month/year end time and I still have tons of invoices to produce. It is rather annoying. What's weird is that I do not have quickbooks set up to automatically update. So when I started getting this error message yesterday, that's when I tried the new update. And it's STILL giving me the error. Other than that, I have not downloaded an update in months! So why all of a sudden, without an update, would it start giving me this message. :(
Try right clicking on the QuickBooks Icon and go to properties and then go to compatibilities and check run in capability mode for Windows 7. Save that setting and then right click again and run as administrator.
That is the only way I can get into invoices.
Just as a FYI that might cause other items to give you a com error so you might have to go back in later and uncheck.
Hope that works.
Kris
Thank you. It didn't give me that error on the first invoice I tried. I'll let you know after I successfully make it through billing today. :)

Thanks Kris, that was the first thing I tried and am still getting random com errors. I've tried multiple times calling quickbooks and I'm guessing they just don't care or have no solution for this. They even refused to look at my windows 7 log to see all the com error crashes I have had in the last week. I manage to do a few tasks, get the com error and reboot and start again. Frustrating as hell but have to get through closing the year. Then will have to consider getting a refund and switching to another service or go online instead. More effort on my part and quickbooks ignores my requests for help. Complete waste of time - hope someone decides on a class action law suit.
