Windows 8 problem with Logitech keyboard/mouse and typing shifted special characters.

I have Iinstalled Windows 8 Pro on two different desktops. Bothe have problems with the mouse and keyboard. On one the Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard stopped working completely. Several replacement wireless mouse/keyboards also refuse to work. When the wireless keyboard/mouse were replaced with a wired mouse/keyboard, all works well. The second system also had been using a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse. On this sytem all works well except in all browsers (IE, Firefox & Chrome) the Shift key won't type the characters above the numbers making it impossible to write addresses, etc as the @ won't type. Am I the only one with keyboard and mouse problems like the above?

Nice idea, but my region and country settings are correctly set to the United States. And this solution begs the question of why exactly the same settings work for the keyboard in Win 7 but not in Win 8. Nothing has been altered by me. This is a problem that came in the door with Win 8 and seems to be specific to the way browsers are interacting with the OS. Since IE is one of he affected browsers, this would appear to be something that escaped even Microsoft's attention and all the beta testing.

Thanks - keep me posted, I have given up on the desktop computer and Windows 8 for now.  I do miss it but I'm so thankfully for my IPad.

Do you by any chance have Comcast's Constant Guard on your computer? Although it makes no logical sense whatsoever, uninstalling Constant Guard WORKS. I was having same problem & it was driving me bananas but as soon as I uninstalled CG, everything works as it should now. Go figure!  :-)

Thank you very much. This suggestion was a winner. I uninstalled ConstantGuard and got my keyboard functionality back. I then contacted Comcast. They had a detailed form reply which showed that they were obviously aware of the problem (but apparently had not chosen to issue a notice to their customers).

Comcast says that ConstantGuard contains an anti-key logging component called GuardedID. This can be separately uninstalled if a user wants to keep ConstantGuard. It's GuardedID that's causing at least some of these keyboard problems within browsers, although I don't know why this routine would become a problem just with Win 8. It's also not clear why the company has left this problem in place, since they must have known about it during the Win 8 beta testing.

Whatever the case. This is a definitive solution for me. Thank you again.

This problem is cause by a 3rd party sofware and usually is an antivirus sofware. Very comom on user with ISP Comcast and istalling Constant Guard. If you have this problem remove your antivirus and porblem fix. You need to install anotherone that is complatible with win8. Good Luck and Happy New Year.
