Selecting default bluetooth connection type

I'm having a bit of trouble configuring my bluetooth headphones on Windows 7. I can pair them and connect them just fine, when I disconnect and reconnect them, for some reason, the default profile selected is "headset" over "Stereo audio device". When headset is selected the audio quality is dreadful, it can't be listened to and there is a green tick next to "Forward VoIP Calls to Handsfree". If I click "Disconnect" then "Listen to Music" the tick transfers next to "listen to music" with the "Connected to" showing as "Stereo Audio Device".

Is there a way to set the default connection to "Listen to Music" and "Stereo Audio Device"?

Thanks

Tried it before, did it again (just in case) and it still doesn't work for me.

My device lists the following services: Bluetooth Sink, Handsfree Telephony, Headset, Remote Control, and Remotely Controllable Device. I've tried several combinations of them and it doesn't seem to make a difference with my device, it still connects automatically to "Forward VoIP Calls to Handsfree".

    Thanks for the reply, though.

So you unticked handsfree tele and hit apply and then ok, but you still get connect to forward voip? Strange, I did on all 4 of my bt devices and it worked on all of them. I still think it's a driver issue. Good Luck.

That sounds like a decent plan IF you NEVER want to be able to connect to Skype while wearing your headset. In my case 75% of the time I'm listening to music, but I bought those specific headphones because they DO have a mic and I DO want them for Skype and gaming, 25% of the time.

I just want to change the DEFAULT.

Ah well, maybe it's just a wish that can't be fulfilled.

I've got the same issue with a Mpow Magneto. Let me PLEASE change the default to 'Listen to music'.

Unchecking Bluetooth Services 'Headset' or 'Handsfree Telephony' in the Mpow Magneto Properties changed nothing.

probably unrelated: In the same list, there is a Bluetooth Service called 'Unknown Service'... Intel Bluetooth drives are up-to-date thanks to the Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0.

Latest Intel Driver Update Utility is 2.4, however.

It was indeed a driver issue. I only recently discovered the update utility and it updated various things, including Bluetooth. Now my headset can connect to both VoIP and Listen to Music services at the same time. Finally.
