My computer problems turned out to be massive. I finally had to have outside assistance and re-install the operating system. I appreciate all the suggestions and assistance provided here. Thank you all who responded.
Cannot install updates, error code 800706F7
I have 19 critical updates that cannot be processed and I get the error code 800706F7. I have tried the troubleshooter and Fix-it and neither resolved the problem. In addition, I also get from the Windows Activation Tech message that I may not be running Genuine Windows. The activation process has never completed. Also, I have IE 11 installed but cannot access it either. I just receive a fast flash on the page. I don't know if these problems are all related, or not. I have Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit purchased on 10/2011 with everything pre-installed. I have used Mozilla firefox and Avast Internet Security from the beginning. I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed which recently found malware and removed it. I also have CCleaner installed and recently ran it hoping it would help with these problems. Java version 8, update 25 and Adobe Flash Player 15 are also installed. I hope someone can help as I find this very frustrating and am also concerned that I am not receiving the critical updates. Thank you.

2014-12-10T17:19:21+00:00 I am also experiencing this problem. I JUST installed Windows 7 and allowed some 167 updates to install. When it was done it received 1 more Important update (KB971033). This update would not install with error code 800706F7. This is the only post I have been able to find that really addresses this particular error. I was however offered a "Fix It" solution (from Microsoft), and I ran it. It didn't help. For now I have elected to simply HIDE the update, since it will not install and won't go away (in fact it's incredibly annoying, I keep getting pop-up notices that there's 1 important update that needs to be installed). To do that, go to the list of updates (click on "x Important Updates" then right click on the update that you want to hide. Select "Hide" from the pop-down options. You can unhide it later if you find a solution.

2014-12-02T15:37:46+00:00 Gerry,
Thanks for your response and suggestions. I am going to try your suggestions but I have to tell you that I am not all that comfortable or knowledgeable with the tech part of the computer and this is our primary computer and I am afraid I will make it totally unusable. In October after Windows updates were automatically installed I could not access the computer because of Error code Firefox XPCom error. After very tense, frustrating days my neighbor finally was able to get it up and running and it has been OK, although updates cannot be installed. Now, I receive the message that I am not running Genuine Windows so I have started the process of troubleshooting, etc. So, it may take me some time to do your suggestions. I think I have already run the diagnostic tool, but will do so again and will try to post results.
Thanks again for your help and patience.

0x800706F7 RPC_X_Bad_Stub_Data This can occur after a control selfupdate that has not fully completed and requires a reboot. The controls may need to be reregistered.
Have you rebooted the computer?
I suggest you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool in normal mode and copy and paste the results in a reply for further analysis:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
Run the Tool and when it completes click the Copy button, open a text file like Word or Notepad and select Edit, Paste. You can paste directly into a reply here. Open a reply, right click and select Paste.
Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload the file to your OneDrive, share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.
Please upload and share with everyone copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your OneDrive and post a link here.
To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.
