Errors with Windows Update. Please help

Hello everyone! I am getting errors with Windows updates for more than 2 weeks now. The two main errors are with the Windows 10 upgrade and Security update for SQL Server 2014. Some tiny updates do get installed in quick time, though. I use 360 total security as the anti-virus, I also have malware-bytes installed. Chrome is my current default browser. I have also installed CCleaner on my system. Please help asap. System Config: Windows 7 home basic (64 bit), service pack 1.

    Alberto, I seem to have somehow repaired the issue with Visual Studio(thank god). But the installation issue of 'security update for sql server 2014 (kb3045324)' still persists. how do I tackle this? Also, somebody help me with the 'Windows 10 upgrade' installation issue. Thanks

    1. Uninstall all SQL Server components you can using Control Panel -> Programs and Features
    2. Backup the registry.

    Hi. Thanks for your cooperation. I'm having a hard time in locating which all sql server components to uninstall from under programs and features. Could you please help? and what is it with the 'backup the registry' part?

    Hello,

    You are facing registry corruption on that computer, that is the meaning of that error you found on the log.

    Please perform the following steps to manually uninstall SQL Server:

    1. Uninstall all SQL Server components you can using Control Panel -> Programs and Features
    2. Backup the registry.
    3. Delete the following keys in regedit:

    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server

    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer

    1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    3. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer like C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server and subfolders.

    I don’t know the procedure to manually uninstall Visual Studio.
