    Hi Philip,

even 2 years later this approach was the right one to help me! I wanted to *deinstall* a program which I no longer needed and got this error. After adding the Java path, the deinstallation was successful.

The PC runs with Windows 7, the prog was Intel SSD Toolbox.

It is quite rare to find a solution for such PC probs right with the first hit, so I want to thank you for this good advice, cheers

    Raimund

Solution for me, apparently too new of java for the installer.  Launch installer fromthe command line as follows...

    MYFILE.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_91\bin\java.exe"

Sub MYFILE with your path\name and verify your location of the java file and change as appropriate for example maybe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144\bin\java.exe
