Your ERROR 0x80070422 is the same as mine. I tried fixing this error code according to every google search possible and failed repeatedly. (Trouble shoot fix, Clean reboot, Safe Mode fix, everything but failed.)

I tried "retry" update like you did, I guess 100 times retry, again, nothing worked.

As a week went by not using the computer I turned it on again and updates was installed already and I could play microsoft games again.

As I told you windows 10 horror is the mystery, at least to me.

I have now tried a clean reboot but still no good, so I will have to just put up with a near

useless PC until Microsoft get it sorted out.

    Hi paul 351,

There could be a number of factors as to why you are experiencing issues with installing Windows Update. This could be caused by broken components of Windows Update or due to a software conflict.

You can consider running the System File Checker and DISM tool. The System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Windows that scans for corrupted Windows system files. If it finds a problem, it will try to replace the problematic system files from a cached version that’s on your PC. If SFC can’t replace the files, the Deployment Image Service and Management Tool (DISM) can check the corrupted files then download and replace the files with Windows Update. For instructions, refer to the steps below:

    1. On the Start menu, type Command Prompt. Right-click the result and then choose Run as administrator.
    2. Copy or type each command followed by hitting Enter:

      sfc /scannow

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

For more Windows Update troubleshooting steps, refer to this article: Fix Windows Update issues.

Hi there Monica, that seems to have fixed it doing the sfc/scannow & dism/etc. the PC now has updated & is running OK. Two questions 1. will I have to do all this each time an update comes out, & 2. since the update to 1803/updates done today, my main PC (with W7 OS ) is no longer  networked with the one that has just been updated it keeps asking for a password. So it seems that this new 1803 update has lost all my network settings, so how do I get it all working again. I can transfer files from the windows 10 PC ( the one that has just been updated ) to the main PC with windows 7 OK, but trying to transfer files from the windows 7 PC to the windows 10 PC  it keeps asking for password never done that before. I paid for someone to come round to network all the PC's now the new 1803 update has screwed it all up, will the next update fix the network problem or have I got to pay someone again to sort it out. Also will this new update have messed any thing else up, or changed any other settings.

      many thanks.

        Paul.

Glad to know that your issue is now resolved!

Regarding your concern with your computer network, you need to reconfigure your network connection between Windows 7 and Windows 10. Since your computer has updated to Windows 10 1803, some settings might have been changed and you need to set up some of your settings again.

If in case you will encounter Windows Update issue, you may use the System File Checker and DISM tool to fix it. Running the Windows Update troubleshooter could also help, here's the link: Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Should you have other concern or question, don't hesitate to inform us and we'll be happy to assist you.
