Hi there many thanks for coming back to me, I was very pleased that I managed do what I did as I'm not very good with computers. As for resetting the network I tried to set up a network before when I first got the PC but messed it all up, so I paid someone to come round to do it for me, I will have a read up on how to do it & try it again, if not I will have to get someone in & pay for it to be done "again"  (very annoying as was working all OK before the update). Anyway hopefully Microsoft will get it right next time with the updates as it seems that loads of people have had the same problems.

      Paul.

Hi, I did what was posted & it worked for me, but since that has been done the PC it now crashes 2/3 times a week & then reboots itself, why ? . the other concern  that I have is when the PC  was trying to update for several days the PC CPU was running at 90/100% & getting very hot, now this must have taken some years off  the PC, it wound be very interesting to see what microsoft wound say it I send them the bill to repair/replace the PC because of their problem. Also one other thing was that all of my PC's were net worked, I paid some one to do this for me as I'm not that good with PC's, since doing this fix the PC is longer networked, & I cannot afford to pay someone to fix it, if it can be fixed. I'm dreading the next lot of updates, when I have got to do it all over again, I just wish I could turn off the updates, bring back W7 please.

    Monica,

I went to the command prompt, copied and pasted sfc/scannow, the is what I got.

You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility.

I'm stuck and this is becoming frustrating.
