Kernel-EventTracing error

With the update to 1709 (Fall Creators) these errors pop up within minutes after each boot...

Session "Cloud Files Diagnostic Event Listener" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022

Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022  (two instances)

SFC shows no integrity violations.   CHKDSK is clean.

What is causing these errors, which are likely benign, and what's the remedy?

Several restarts later and the above issue does now seem to be fixed :)

This is what fixed it for me...

On 11th November 2017, Hannu-K stated the following....

*"*I got rid of it only changing one OneDrive setting. I ensured in Settings tab that the Files On-Demand checkbox is not checked. This was enought for me and id 2 errors disappeared from the event viewer".

    @ Microsoft

Please fix this ASAP so I can continue to use Files on Demand

This error, and perhaps the "sessions error" at boot as well, seems to be solved by following the procedure here.

Once the app has been reinstalled type "OneDrive" into the search bar <enter>, log in with your MS account and follow the prompts.

On my side, the error has been fixed uninstalling and then reinstalling the OneDrive App.

In doing so, however, I ended up in having the icon of a standard folder for OneDrive in Windows-Explorer, instead of the  OneDrive icon  with the clouds.

I then took the further step of definitively uninstalling the OneDrive App and also reinstalling OneDrive in Windows 10.

To do so, I made a search  of the file OneDriveSetup in Windows-Explorer under C:

    Clicking to open the file

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive

this has reinstalled the OneDrive, also resetting in Windows-Explorer the right icon of OneDrive with its clouds!. The cloud icon of OneDrive is also back in the Systray,it had disappeared uninstalling  the OneDrive App.

Noting how OneDrive is embedded in Windows 10 and the OneDrive App seems therefore not strictly required, I have not reinstalled the App. So far everything work fine.

Note: I did the same procedure on two PCs which we have at home and for both of them the failure has disappeared and the right icon is restored.

You are lucky.  My files-on-demand checkbox was unchecked and I still had the kernel error.  Only the uninstall and re-install of OneDrive fixed it for me.  I guess every case may be different, but I still feel that the error is innocuous as it doesn't seem to negatively affect the operation of OneDrive or anything else in the OS.  I don't think MS thinks that the average user even looks at the Event Viewer, nor do I think they want them to.  :))

    Hi,

Upon checking, the culprit for this issue might be a third-party application. Let's try performing a clean boot as this usually helps us determine if third-party apps are the ones causing issues on your computer.

Let us know if the issue still persists after performing a clean boot.
