Changing windows 10 cursor does not work - issue has been happening for more than 6 months

Hello - Changing the Windows 10 cursor does not work

I use Windows 10 at work and at home on my personal computer, and both don't have the ability to add a custom cursor.

The option is there in settings, just like every other version of Windows, but when the computer is restarted - the cursor changes to the default white microsoft cursor...

(it's ok if Microsoft want to not allow their users to change the cursor in Windows 10, just don't give the option there - it's frustrating to have a feature just not work - like it was programmed by amatures...)

Change cursor screen:

When resetting - the cursor goes white, and if I just open this mouse cursor screen , switch to the 2nd tab, and click ok (not changing or updating any settings, just going to this page and selecting ok) - then the cursor changes to what it's supposed to be / what it's saved as / what the profile is switched to...................

Version of Windows 10 - latest version - I checked for updates 5 seconds ago:

SFC can take a while, it's not uncommon for it to take an hour. Same with DISM, that can take a couple hours.

If the scans fail then we're looking at more serious errors that might require repair or reinstall of Windows. Let me know how you go!

That's up to you. If you power it off by holding the power button and it starts then you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool from this link choosing Download Tool Now, install the tool, open it and choose Upgrade this PC Now. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... This reinstalls WIndows while saving your files and apps in place; takes about an hour, resolves most problems. This is prescribed if SFC fails to repair broken System Files.

You can also try running SFC from bootable media or the Repair Mode's Command Prompt which might work better: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

You can also do a Reset from WIndows Settings or the same Repair Mode above:

If necessary you can create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC by installing the Media Creation Tool and following the steps given on it's download page here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... If using another PC to create the media uncheck the box for Recommended Settings and choose carefully your licensed version and bit rate (normally 64 bit).

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

After it loads, on second screen, choose Repair Your Computer, then Advanced Troubleshooting to try Startup Repair, System Restore, Command Prompt for SFC, or go back to Troubleshoot Options to Reset.

If those all fail then use the same media to Clean Install following the illustrated steps in this link which compile the best possible Clean Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Make sure during the booted install to follow the illustrated steps to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, then click Next to let it auto-create the needed partitions, format them and begin install - this makes it foolproof.

You will get and keep the best possible install to the exact extent you stick with the steps, tools and methods in the linked tutorial. It's a better install than any amount of money could buy and a great learning experience that will make you the master of your PC because you will learn everything that works best and how to apply it with your own hands.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi, I tried to run the windows-reinstalling tool, but it came up with an error message that my version of windows isn't compatible with the tool...

I then tried to delete the mouse drivers, then reset the computer, then reset the computer again, and the same cursor issue is there...
