Where is Excel in W10? Why can I NOT set it as default app for a specific file?

Hello,

Why is everything so difficult and why is Microsoft trying to force me to use something, or trying to prevent me from using something?

I want to set up Excel as the default app for .xml files.

Cannot be done.

Excel will not show up as an option and it cannot be found in the computer. It's hidden....

Is there a way to find it even though Microsoft doesn't want me to?

Thank you.

So there is no way to point to Excel location in W10?

If the file type is meant for Excel then it should show up as it does for any other file that Excel normallly opens. They try to discourage us from associating file types that aren't normally opened by the app.

Have you also checked Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose Default by File Type to see if .xml shows upon on your list to associate with any apps?

    Yes, I have.

So basically this confirm my theory and frustration. Microsoft decides for me instead of letting me use the software that I paid for the way I want.

You've already said you can open the file with Excel from it's File menu.

If you want to complain to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. But Microsoft will not even see it here because this is a tech forums where we are mostly volunteers trying to help solve your problems.
