PC continually pausing
A few weeks back I noticed the mouse cursor started "pausing" as I move it around. It stops then rushes to catch up. It does this continually - every 3-4 seconds. I tried several different mice - wireless and corded - all do the same. Now I notice its actually the whole PC that's pausing - video display etc.
I searched online for solutions to the mouse pausing and nothing worked. I even bought a new SSD and did a fresh install of W10 to it and the mouse seemed to be working OK while it was installing, but as soon as the first welcome/browser screen was displayed, the pausing was back.
I've reverted to my original boot disc and now just tried safe mode and in that the system is OK - no pauses. How do I work out whats causing the problem ? Which driver/service/app ?

2019-12-11T09:49:36+00:00 No my drivers do not include Catalyst - maybe because they're a bit old.
I have Radeon HD8400E. Yes its an AMD GX-420CA SOC with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s).
I can't find the HD8400E listed on the AMD drivers site but they have an auto-detector and installer which runs OK and installs 8400E drivers, but the same problem results. I got the original drivers from the supplier of my PC - a fitPC4.
I haven't tried installing in compatability mode - how would I do this ?

2019-12-10T22:53:30+00:00 Did you find AMD Catalyst Install Manager?
From what I understand when you install the drivers the AMD Catalyst installs with them.
Do you know which Radeon version you have? This is a list of those not supported by Windows 10.

Is your Processor also AMD?
Have you tried installing the drivers in compatibililty mode?

2019-12-10T07:45:18+00:00 After heaps of searching I can't find anything relevant for fixing the atikmdag.sys problem. It appears to come from AMD/ATI graphics drivers, which haven't been updated in ages, so I don't understand why its only started happening now. Maybe I should work my way back through recent windows updates and undo them ?
