After a while, mouse click fails and only Ctrl Alt Del brings back the functionality

At various times, my system (Win 10) stops recognizing mouse clicks in all the active windows including EDGE or any open window and also the taskbar items  This happens after using laptop for some times. Im using the Dell laptop with all the up to date drivers. This problem started a few days ago suddenly with no new software installed or made any change to the PC. when the problem occurs, the edge browser stops responding to mouse click, it scrolls up/down automatically. After some times, all the active windows including browsing windows or any open window becomes totally unresponsive to mouse click. Only CTRL-ALT-DEL and hitting the taskmanager button can improve the condition and mouse becomes full functional again for a while, but the same problem returns. I uninstalled the mouse driver and again rebooted it to install again, sfc/scannow, virus check or even did a resetting the PC, added another account.... but the problem persists, even in safe mode. Every driver and software of my pc is updated. I even did a system restore but no change. What should i do next? Anybody to help me out please?

I have the same problem.   It started a couple of weeks ago.  I've done all of the remedies above with no improvement.

I am having the same problem.  It happens just moments after booting up and sometimes every 30 seconds I need to ctrl-alt-Del and then cancel.  The system then becomes responsive again.   I can work in an active window with no problem but the taskbar/start menu and all other windows don't respond to mouse clicks.

I've done a system restore and the problem persisted post system restore.   Everything online that is suggested like scannow, virus check, driver replacement has not fixed.   It was suggested that it was Nvidia drivers but I uninstalled and the system still froze on the standard MS drivers.

I've seen this problem mentioned in unanswered threads dating back to 2015.

I've seen one thread reference IDE drivers... I wasn't able to try that as I am running RAID drivers.

    Please advise.

I have the same issue. I just tried unplugging all of my USB devices and swapping my mouse and keyboard for another. I reinstalled Windows 10 from my USB thumbdrive, and yet still have the issue. I have the Asus ROG strix b450-f gaming motherboard and I think I was seeing some strange things with input occur in my bios even but I'm not sure now.

I am getting the same symptoms. My mouse scroll button appears on it's own, as if I hit the middle mouse button while in Firefox or Edge. My application windows also stop responding, but it seems some respond to the keyboard. Then I'll be typing in Xbox Gamebar or this text field and my keyboard just stops typing and the mouse scroll icon comes up. I can click some mouse buttons and things come to life again. This is a fresh install with like 5 applications installed. Sea of Thieves, Discord, Firefox, Xbox Gamebar, Xbox Companion, my mobo drivers, and that's about it. This is so frustrating. I'm about to install Linux just to rule out hardware and confirm it's just Windows. This is extremely frustrating and concerning.

My start menu stops functioning as I'm typing this, yet I can still interact with this textbox. I hit ctrl-alt-del then esc from that screen, and everything starts working again for a few minutes. This is insane! It's also a brand new computer that I built like a month ago that was working fine and no overclock. What gives Microsoft? Please look into this!
