Uninstalling Visual C++ redistributables - how?

Cleaning up a PC, how do I uninstall/remove any MS Visual C++ re-distributable program files from a win7 system?

  • what folder are they installed in?
  • Is it just the uninstall option from the programs and features page? or
  • are there entries in the registry that must also be removed?

??

    KT,

We are not communicating well.  So, reset  . .

    1.  I am a user.  I don't make any decisions about what is in a program, or how it installs.

    2.  the only control I have over that software is to install/use it , or not.  A supplied installer (comes with the program purchase) actually does the installation.

    3.  The program installer makes the choices about installing any Visual C++ re-distributables it requires based on the program version and the supported operating system on the PC, and downloads/installs those from the Microsoft library as part of the installation.

    4.  I've used it successfully for 13 versions over for 12 years under windows XP3 and then win 7.  The win 7 installation - to be upgraded -  is successfully running 5 versions of VS (X9, X10, 2018,2019, 2020).

    5.  My problem has been with upgrading the OS to win10,  In that configuration, the 1st installed version of VS (x10) works.  When a second version (2018) is installed the 2nd version works but 1st version fails, a failure point traced to visual C++ re-distributables.

6  This topic thread was about uninstalling or otherwise managing those re-distributables, to avoid this situation when I next tried to upgrade.

    7.  YOU made the point that installing as administrator would avoid hang-ups and crashes.

    8.  I asked you to clarify that statement with respect to the re-distributables being used.

So far, you've dodged the question. Not much help at all, really.

The reset was helpful mostly for me.

No you are not allowed to install multiple versions of Video studio due the incompatibility that you did discovered by your self.

An normal user he would uninstall the OLD version and then move to the NEW.

Video studio similes to a master control of:

    1. a pile of plug-in for it self.
    2. another pile of software mechanisms them supporting multimedia file formats.
    3. automation due scripts
    4. web update engine
    5. many more that a common user could not understand.

I own X3 Retail and this found incompatible with my SANYO video-camera and I were forced because COREL did not accept it responsibility to replace my license (because the software were false advertised about supporting formats) and I accept using X5 from the dark internet few years ago, and now I am not planning installing neither,  because I do care for YouTube any more.

You seem as great customer of COREL, you better cry on their solders for help.

But the COREL customers are somewhat as invisible, as soon COREL get their money.

And finally if you are serious about video editing, here is your change to toss away Video Studio for ever.
