Error Code: 0x80070005 when installing NVIDIA App.

Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Hero

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K

RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 6200Mhz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition

SSD 1: Samsung 980 PRO

SSD 2: Samsung 970 EVO

OS: Windows 11 Pro 22H2

OS Build: 22621.4317

When trying to install version 11.0.2.337 of the NVIDIA app I receive the vague error message: "Error Code: 0x80070005". I've disabled my Anti-Virus (Windows 11 built-in AV) as well as Windows Firewall. I've ran the NVIDIA App Installer in Administrator Mode. I've also made sure to give my user account as well as all Administrators permission to "Create Symbolic Links" within the Security Policy settings of Windows 11. I've given Full Control Permissions access to my account as well as all user accounts to the NVIDIA Corporation folder within my C: Drives Program Files folder. I've tried troubleshooting with the instructions provided on NVIDIA's Support Knowledgebase Page: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/422, but nothing provided here has solved that error code. If I were to guess I believe my issue would have something to do with step 3: "3. Please review Group Policy settings, security restrictions, or the system configuration that might prevent the installer from completing its actions.", but the page doesn't detail exactly which settings to change. I would appreciate any and all assistance, advice and help. Please and thank you!

Find your "LOG.setup.exe.log" file located within "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA app\Installer\Logs", within that file search 0x80070005 and see if you can find a similar line of code line this one:

    "41.527 | ERROR: [NVI2.NVFileAction] 850@CNVFileAction::InvokeAction : Exception {0x80070005 - Access is denied.; File: FilePath.cpp; Line: 1917; While copying C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\VirtualAudio.Driver.{1CA02681-FFA8-482A-BFE1-283634A43977}\nvaudcap64v.dll to \C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvaudcap64v.dll} thrown while performing file action. "

Try to find a line that mentions error 0x80070005 and see if it mentions a file being installed into a specific folder and if it does mention a file that was denied access to a specific folder, perform the same steps in allowing access to that folder with TrustedInstaller as well as your Administrator account.

    1. Right click System32 folder and select properties. Under the security tab click Advanced, then at the top next to Owner change it to you (name/whatever your account is called), instead of TrustedInstaller. Click Apply then OK.
    2. After setting the owner of System32 to you, within the System32 folder Properties window, under "Group or user names:" find TrustedInstaller, click Edit then see if you can check off Allow for Full Control and every other possible box. Do this for both TrustedInstaller and your administrator account, Click Apply then OK.
    3. After you successfully edit permissions, try installing the NVIDIA App.
    4. Once NVIDIA App successfully installs go back to System32 folder, right click it and select properties. Under the security tab click Advanced, then at the top next to Owner change it to TrustedInstaller, instead of you. Click Apply then OK.

I have the same problem and did not have the option to edit the permissions to system32. Changing the the owner to my account worked but when I tried to apply full control for the trustedInstaller account it threw a bunch of enumeration errors, seemingly for the folders and files in that directory. I had to cancel out! Is it safe making this kind of change. I vaguely remember doing this sort of thing ages ago on an early windows 10 installation, due to a NIC driver that was ultimately the problem. I had to reinstall the OS in the end. I suspect the actual problem is Nvidia Apps in this case. They even suggested deleting their log related registry keys?

Test: I keep getting Invalid image source detected when I try to respond, and I am not posting an image, so I don't know how to fix it?

When I type this in my search box: "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA app\Installer\Logs"

I have only two logs. Both are executable files. How do I search an executable file? When I tried telling you what the files said, I think microsoft is somehow interpreting that as an image? This is what I am talking about with tech these days. Every single thing requires 4 hours. I can't even post a reply because my reply in plain English violates some unknown image property on Microsoft forums. All I can think of it is by typing a file name, it's interpreted as an image, or when I used quotation marks?

Anyhow I am trying to request a tutorial like I am 5. I am technologically illiterate. My log files don't seem to be visible in the way you describe them after searching that above query and opening file location. Have 4070 Super. Thank you for any time spent.
