Graphics driver problem...

I really need an answer. I am using a bit old laptop so it is a bit hard finding solutions especially to my rare case. I have a dell precision 3510. i have an intel graphics card and an AMD FirePro W5130M. my laptop had also been experiencing performance issues in the past month but i thought it was some virus and i was going to reset the whole laptop anyway. i then reset the laptop and downloaded windows online. everything was fine until a day later my screen froze out of the blue. i tried force shutdown then boot again and it worked. i continued using it till it happened again. this time after rebooting the screen froze a few seconds later and after rebooting for the third time the screen turns off at the end of the boot. I thought windows was corrupted so i tried reinstalling but i ended up experiencing the same issue. i kept on trying to find the solution till i finally realized the problem of the screen freezing happens when windows tries to install the AMD FirePro W5130M driver. I tried various ways to fix this like disabling the intel graphics card and forcing windows to not enable it and then try installing the AMD FirePro W5130M driver again and it worked. But, after restarting there was a yellow sign in the driver's name in device manager. i tried updating it but it said it didnt need any updates. i opened it and i found error code 43. Now I give up and i hope someone will be able to help me. feel free to ask any questions about my case. thank u in advance. And is it really a hardware problem? I mean other users have reported the same thing even in this website but i didnt find the solution sadly. I also tried downloading windows 11 on my unsupported hardware, still didnt work... please help. thanks

    Dear Ali_648,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

I understand you're having the issues with your Dell Precision 3510 laptop, specifically with the AMD FirePro W5130M graphics card. Error code 43 usually indicates that the driver has stopped due to a problem or the system has detected a hardware issue. I'll guide you through several troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue.

Given that your device does not support the installation of Windows 11, if you are experiencing these issues with your device running Windows 11, then the problem is due to a compatibility issue, please consider reinstalling Windows 10. The official website also clearly states this.

    Uninstall and Clean Driver Install

Download DDU from a trusted source (such as their official website).

Boot into Safe Mode by pressing Shift + Restart and selecting Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

Once in Safe Mode, run DDU to remove the current graphics driver completely.

Afterward, reinstall the latest graphics driver from the official Dell website.

For more information on how to use DDU, you can refer to the guidance notes provided by Intel's official website, which is based on an example of an Intel graphics card, and is equally applicable to NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards.

How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)

    Download Latest Drivers

Visit the Dell Support website and download the latest Intel HD Graphics and AMD FirePro W5130M drivers specifically for your Dell Precision 3510.

Install the Intel HD Graphics driver first. Ensure the installation completes successfully. Restart your computer if prompted.

Install the AMD FirePro W5130M driver next. Ensure the installation completes successfully. Restart your computer if prompted.

Update BIOS: Visit the Dell Support website and check if there's an updated BIOS version for your laptop. Follow their instructions carefully to update the BIOS. https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER09251279M/1/Latitude_E5x70_Precision_3510_1.34.3.exe

Dell Pre-Boot System Assessment: Restart your computer and repeatedly press F12 during the startup to access the boot menu. Select Diagnostics from the menu to run the Dell hardware diagnostic tests.

If the issue is indeed a hardware problem, the repair center will be the best place to determine if the GPU needs repair or replacement.

    Best Regards,

i tried all these things and none worked. I upgraded to windows 11 as an attempt to try to fix it but it was still happening in windows 10. I have seen manyyyy posts of other people in this website, dell website, reddit, and other websites experiencing the same problem. So is it really a hardware issue? And btw, if u can, please open my profile, u would find that i posted this in Feb and someone tried helping me. He couldned and ended up leaving me. The reason why this might help u is because it could give u an overview of what is happening and u would see the things i attempted doing before but didnt work. Thank u for your time

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

Confirming the cause of your issue is actually quite simple. Whether you're using Windows 10 or Windows 11, after a fresh Windows installation, do not install AMD or Intel graphics drivers. With no graphics drivers installed, Windows will automatically switch to the Microsoft basic graphics display driver.

Then you can observe for a period of time and check if the previous error occurs without any display drivers.

If no issues appear, then it's a compatibility problem with AMD or Intel graphics drivers, not a Windows problem. You'll need to install an older version of the graphics driver, with WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) drivers recommended. This can fundamentally identify and solve your error.

If the system still freezes without installing any graphics drivers, you'll need to consider whether hardware damage is causing the problem.

If my answer has been helpful to you, please provide feedback anytime.

well the system never freezes except when i or windows install the amd driver while the intel driver is installed. when i uninstall the intel driver, and try downloading the amd driver, it doesnt work and in device manager it says code 43 in the properties of the amd driver, then when i install the intel driver and restart, either the screen freezes few seconds after the start up or the screen turns off at the end of the boot. but when i boot into safe mode and open device manager, i see that both drivers are working with no code or anything for some reason. I will try the windows hardware quality labs, but which version should i install?

    Hi

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Since your graphics card is a professional one (AMD FirePro W5130M), such cards typically don't have too many driver versions. I have checked the graphics card drivers on the AMD official website for you, and your graphics card model has only one driver version available under Windows 10 64-bit. Have you installed this version?

If so, the issue might lie with the Intel driver. You may need to install different versions of the Intel driver to check for compatibility issues with the AMD driver.

If you have not previously installed the professional version of the AMD graphics card driver but instead installed the personal version (such as Catalyst), it could be an installation error causing compatibility issues with your system.

Below is the official download page for your graphics card driver interface. You can download it from the location shown in the image. As a side note, your graphics card driver is only compatible with Windows 10 64-bit, and it is not recommended to install and use it under Windows 11.

Looking forward to your further news.
