Persistent NVIDIA GPU Issue with Code 43 on Windows 11

Despite the GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q Design) being recognized in the BIOS and listed in Device Manager, it does not appear in Task Manager. As a result, my system defaults to using the integrated Intel(R) UHD Graphics.
In Device Manager, next to the driver, a Code 43 error is reported with the message 'The device has reported a problem and has been stopped.' Additionally, the NVIDIA Control Panel does not launch.

Here's a brief summary of the steps I've already attempted, unfortunately without success:

  1. Complete uninstallation of NVIDIA drivers in Safe Mode
  2. Updating drivers directly from NVIDIA's website
  3. Installing drivers through NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  4. Reinstalling the NVIDIA Control Panel
  5. Restarting NVIDIA Display Container LS from Services

I've noticed that my issue mirrors one discussed in a previous thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/nvidia-control-panel-is-not-opening-gpu-driver-is/806a0e62-384b-4d1c-9386-8900c2a2ce14

I believe this is not a hardware problem.

UPDATE: The issue has been resolved and it was a hardware issue.

What you can try to do is to repair your Windows system but the error code indicates a hardware problem.

Hello! I found this after experiencing issues with error 43. It turned out to be that my drivers for the GPU had disappeared overnight. (I have an Nvidia GeForce RTX, might not be the same issue for other brands). The solution was as follows:

    1. Look at taskmanager to find that the GPU does not show.
    2. Start Nvidia experience, and discover that the app needed an update. Do the uppdate.
    3. Download the drivers that the app suggests. Use automatic download.
    4. Look at taskmanager. GPU is there.
    5. Restart the computer and GPU still shows in taskmanager.
    6. Test booting games and general troubleshooting

Unfortunately I got sick of beating my head against the wall and ended up getting an Asus G14 with a 4060. The Alienware was a beautiful laptop with an amazing OLED but it's just been sitting on my desk unplugged.

Prior to buying the G14 I looked into buying a new motherboard for the Alienware but it was going to cost me at least $700 though Ebay. I decided to move on for now. When I get some time I may plug the Alienware in and do an autopsy and investigate more. It's a "broken" laptop so what do I have to lose? I'll let you know when I get around to it. I wish I had better news, sorry.
