Just installed two hyper-V servers from a backups. on one of the servers which is a DC it doesn't get all the usual protocols in Ethernet Properties as per the attached photo. when I try to install the protocol via the install button it comes back with could not add the requested feature. The error is: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

i need this server up in order to get into the other one.

    Well,
This is rare. Since this case requires deeper investigation and log analysis is not with the forum scope, I would suggest that you contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue. In addition, if the issue has been proved as system flaw, the consulting fee would be refund. You may find phone number for your region accordingly from the link below.

    Thanks for your understanding.
    Best regards,
    Danny

    Hi,
It seems that the adaptor is not connected with any virtual switch.

    YuhanDeng-MSFT thankyou for your reply

TP2 Hyper-V Network adapter is configured to the same virtual switch as TP1

I have deleted this and recreated a new virtual switch and pointed both servers to it.

TP1 gets a network connection but TP2 fails

I have tried to add a second virtual adapter but this also gets the same problem.

Just installed two hyper-V servers from a backups

This might be problematic. What is the history here? Do you meant the host was restored from backup? Does the host hardware support the operating system installed?
