my computer keeps crashing with different error codes

Hi All,

Since a couple of days my computer keeps crashing since the latest windows 11 update.

Error messages are always different and I get a blue screen of death (BSOD):

  • dpc watchdog violation
  • ntoskrnl.exe
  • ...

I still have an windows.old folder from 31/07.

I already run the next commands:

  • sfc /scannow
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

There has not been a change in my hardware only the windows update.

The memory.dmp file is over 2GB:

Any feedback or do I need a clean install?

best regards,

Tom

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the feedback.

I've updated the my intell chipset:

DSA didn't give any option to update BIOS and I didn't find any updates for the NH5x_7xDPx motherboard.

Did the dumps mention an issue with the graphics? Or the motherboard?

    best regards,
    Tom

You minidump files did not indicate a problem with the graphics or motherboard, just the chipset drivers, if your PC continues to crash, please upload any newly created minidump files for analysis.

Your minidump file just indicated RAM corruption.

To try to force Windows 11 show any faulting drivers, the best option would be to turn on Driver Verifier, let your PC crash 3 times, then you must turn off Driver Verifier, and finally, upload any newly created minidump files

Before you run Driver Verifier, please create a new System Restore Point

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Note, if you have any difficulty getting into Windows with Driver Verifier enabled:

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run these two commands, then restart your PC.

    verifier /reset

    verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the feedback. Currently I reverted back to a previous build of windows (
    23H2 (10.0.25915)).

I'm keeping your suggestion in my bookmarks.

In the mean time I'm contacting my vender to see if I can get some updates of my BIOS/drivers.

I'll execute this when i'm forced to upgrade to the next version.

In team mean time I also run Driver verifier.

    Thanks for the help.

    Best regards,

    Tom
