This error message always pops up whenever I start my PC. I don't know what the problem is nor why it's appearing—Realtek seems to be working just fine.

Thank yo for the screenshots, I do not see any Realtek process listed in there.

Open File Explorer, then go to tis folder:

    C:\Users\Fangirl\AppData\Roaming\Realtek\Realtek

In that folder is there a file named RealtekUpdate.vbs?

if there is, right click that file and select Open With - Notepad

Delete the contents of that file and then paste this into that file:

    Wscript.Quit

Save that file and restart your PC and the popup error should be gone.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Click the link below to download a small free utility that does not require installation.

    https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autorun...

When the file downloads, unzip it.

    Run Autoruns64 as Administrator

In the filter box in Autoruns, type vbs

Please provide a screenshot of that Autoruns window.

The Windows Script Host error message usually appears when there is a problem with a script that is running on your computer. To fix this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard.
    2. Click on the "Startup" tab.
    3. Look for the program that may be causing the error message to appear. (possibly labeled with Realtek Update)
    4. Disable that program by right-clicking on them and selecting "Disable".
    5. Restart your computer and check if the error message still appears.

If that does not work (if it's not in the list), we can get more details using autoruns.exe to disable the prompt (this is a tool by Microsoft)

    1. Download & run the tool
    2. Wait for it to show 'ready' in the left lower corner of the app
    3. In the 'Quick Filter' search box on top type realtekupdate.vbs
    4. This should result in 1 line showing with a checkbox in front of it.
    5. click the checkbox in from of the line that points to the realtekupdate.vbs to disable it from trying next time you restart your Windows.
    6. close the app.

Thank you for the screenshot, that did not find any entry, that is strange.

Open Autoruns again, do not type any text in the filter box, then select the Logon tab at the top.

Please provide a screenshot of all entries on that Logon tab.
