Same here. This is a constant Outlook headache, and it seems to be related to clicking links (Zoom or Teams) in a meeting appointment. After the click, it forces a save changes dialog box. Seems like this should be an easy fix, and it would save me 5-8 false events every day.
Outlook asks to save when closing appointments without any change.
When I open any appointment in outlook calendar I have to save it before closing. Even If I did not change anything.
Any idea how to solve this?

2021-12-02T22:17:48.967+00:00 I have the same issue. It's extremely annoying. Even if you have not made any change, it asks the question, and then it makes you doubt yourself. Has Microsoft not tested this thoroughly?

2022-01-27T08:22:13.78+00:00 I managed to reproduce the issue, as below. Key point it that the issue only occurs (it seems) when the laptop has been into sleep mode while an Outlook appointment window was opened.
Outlook version: 2112 (Build 14729.20260 Click-to-Run)
Steps to reproduce:- Open Outlook calendar, and open any appointment
- Minimize all windows (e.g. use Windows key + D to show desktop)
- Wait a few seconds
- Put laptop to sleep mode (e.g. from start menu Power -> Sleep)
- Wake laptop from sleep mode and log in again
- Hover over the Outlook icon in the taskbar (small calendar window preview and appointment window preview will show), hover to the small appointment preview window and click the 'X' icon to close it)
- Outlook will pop up an alert box "Want to save your changes? Yes | No | Cancel " and the user has to select something.
If multiple appointments were open, it gives the alert box for each of those.
@Jade Liang-MSFT maybe you can see if you can reproduce this issue also. -

2022-04-18T09:34:50.98+00:00 I had the same problem and found reproducible conditions and a solution.
In my case, it was due to the difference in the display scale of the monitors. If you are using multiple monitors, check to see if the display scale of each is the same.
If they are not, set them both to the same display scale.
(Right click on the desktop, "Display settings", "Size of text, apps, and items on this display")For example, if you have two monitors with different display scales and the appointment window is opened on a monitor other than the one where the main Outlook window was first opened, you will be prompted to save the appointment even though you are not editing it.
I believe this is a bug.Hope this helps.

2022-02-15T05:45:50.25+00:00 I've had the same issue since Office/Outlook 2013 and I'm now running O365.
I do believe this issue is related to using the sleep/hibernate feature. I've been using hibernate for years and it seems as if that is what's causing this issue.
Should be fairly easy for someone from Microsoft support to re-produce by simply opening a calendar item (most of my invites are with a Teams online-meeting link), hibernate the computer (using Windows 10), start the computer again and then try to close the opened calendar.Keeping my fingers crossed this annoying "bug" can be solved.
