When I open any appointment in outlook calendar I have to save it before closing. Even If I did not change anything.
Any idea how to solve this?

This has been occurring for at least a decade. What it is 'caused by' is if anything changes in the open appointment, it gets marked as 'updated', and the standard close functionality will ask you if you want to keep the changes. The weather, your current online status, whether you are logged in or not, and maybe even what time it currently is, anything at all - if it gets changed then the whole email is marked as updated, even if whatever it was gets subsequently changed back to its original value.
What's missing is a mechanic of whether something is important or not...and probably a huge, complicated selection panel to turn on and off things you consider important or not. Plus, the ability to have things insert themselves like add-ons (zoom, etc.) and who knows what new raft of updatable items they bring along. In short, it's a very difficult problem and the huge amount of contextual data tied up in a appointment makes it even worse. Who could tell whether some random change from the weather or an add-on is important or not? Do you want it to ask you every time for every bit of changed data? That would be worse. The alternative of ignoring some changes (that happen without your intervention) versus your directly typed in changes allows for the possibility that important changes could be lost, and that would be worse.
So- It's never going to be fixed, it is annoying as heck, and that's the end of the story. My advice - close your appointments immediately after you are done with them.

The greater theme in all these forums where folks struggle with this issue is that Microsoft / Outlook team needs to take control of the situation. No matter what settings are set, there should be no plugin, no sleep mode, nothing at all that should impact a user’s ability to close an unchanged (ie visible fields) appointment item with a SINGLE CLICK on the X.

Does it occur for you if the meeting has a link and you click the link? Like a teams or zoom invite? I think this might be the issue, which still to me would mean I haven't change the invite so I don't want to see the prompt every time.

    Hi @Tobias Ziegler ,

Did it occur on a specific appointment or all appointments/meetings in your calendar, if it occurred on any specific items only, are there any differences between them and others? And whether you have input and then delete any words in those appointments?

If you just open and close the appointment, I have tried to test on my Outlook 365 version 2105 (Build 14026.20246), but found it could work normally when I open and close the appointment/meetings. In order to further confirm if your issue is related to your account or client, it's suggested to log into your web mail to check if the issue could be reproduced there.

If it could work normally on your web mail, the issue may be related to your client itself. Based on my research, any add-ins may cause it, it's recommended to restart your outlook in safe mode to check if the issue has any differences(Windows + R >type "Outlook.exe /safe">enter).

If you could work normally in safe mode, it's recommended to disable your add-ins gradually to check which one causes the issue(File>Options >Add-ins>COM add-ins,Go>uncheck the add-in to disable it).

If the issue still exists, considering corrupted outlook data file or profile may also cause it, it's recommended to create a new Outlook profile for testing(Control Panel>Mail>Show profiles>Add>readd your account).

If your issue has any update, please feel free to post back.

all of the above did not fix my issue. I've added a ticket to the microsoft community. It could help us if you indicate you have the same problem there -->
