HI
It works now after unistall Symantec! I can run edge and chrome. Do I need Symantec protection? Can I just install it again?
Thank you very much - Sixten

Hi
I have Windows 10 and am trying to install Edge. I get the error code (Status_Invalid_Image_Hash). It is the same when I try to open a window in Google Chrome. My only access to internet now is my old Explorer. What to do?

Hey there Sixten!
Issues are coming from Symantec, definitely are. Before everything else, run an antivirus check, just in case any malware is trying to camuflate files.
After that, if problems persist, I'd recommend reinstalling Symantec. Uninstall it, see if things work again, and then reinstall it if you need it.
Let's see if it a reinstall fixes it.
Hugs, and best of luck!

Hi
I followed some of your instruction and made a system scan with the following result. I will now make a restart and see if it helped.
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> dism /online/cleanup-image/restorehealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.18362.900
Error: 87
The online/cleanup-image/restorehealth option is unknown.
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32>
Hi Miguel and thanks for a quick reply. I have now disabled anti-virus but that didn't help. And I haven't done any kind of system modification (deliberately) that I know off. I have more info on error codes that perhaps can help you to understand before I do to much commands that I really don't understand what they do. Do this screen dump come out readable? Do you understand more of he issue?
Hey there Sixten11!
My name is Miguel Ángel and I'm an independent advisor, also a Microsoft user just like you! I'll try to help you with your issue.
That's actually weird. Have you done any system modification before this started happening? First, make sure the installer you're downloading is 64 bits if your system is 64 bits as well.
If you have a third-party antivirus, please disable it for a moment and check if, with antivirus disabled, it works.
If none of these two before worked, we'll try running a system files integrity check. Press Windows key + X and click on "Windows Powershell (admin)" or "Command prompt (admin)". Enter these commands:
> SFC /scannow
> DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
I would as well try to update DirectX, .NET Framework and Visual C++ just in case. Just run Windows Update and let all the updates install.
As for Google Chrome, try uninstalling it, restarting your computer and then installing it again.
Tell me how it goes! Don't worry at all, we'll go through more solutions if these don't work.
I hope you're having a lovely Christmas!
Hugs and best wishes,
Miguel Ángel :)
