Disable fullscreen optimizations

Hello,

I just have a quick question about the option for "disable fullscreen optimizations." To get there, I right click a .exe app or a game and click compatibility. The problem is whenever I do check this option, alt tabbing takes significantly longer when enabling this for a game where it just gives me a 3 second backscreen period instead of alt tabbing immediately.  I have the same resolution and refresh rate set for both windows and the game. This also does not happens with my friends.

I wanted to know if their is another solution to this other than changing the game to windowed fullscreen since I prefer playing at fullscreen.

I have attached a photo of the option to disable fullscreen optimization.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hello, I am EILIMAR, an independent advisor and I will be happy to help you with your problem.

In general, these problems are caused by incompatibilities of the application with the new improvements, therefore, it is necessary that you contact the developer of the same for additional optimization options. In addition to the above, I suggest you be attentive to new corrections through Windows Update. .

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Eilimar Martinez

The thing is that couple of my friends have this option checked on the same applications/many others but they don't have the problem that I am experiencing. We both also have the latest windows updated.

You can also uncheck Show game bar when playing full screen games that Microsoft has verified from the games section of the Settings app.

    I have already unchecked that.

    • What games performance suffering with Full Screen Optimization on ?

Do your friends have the same, or equivalent machine specs, and the same apps\programs open when running the game ?

    • No surprise disabling FSO would slow Alt-TAB in some games. One of the 'benefits' of Full Screen Optimization is to make

Alt-TAB quicker, and more reliable with games that don't respond well to Alt-TAB in exclusive full screen mode.

    • Screen overlays (Steam, etc.) turned off, or on ?  Overlays are supposed cause fewer issues with FSO on as well.
    • I wonder if games that have an option in their graphics settings to use borderless or exclusive full screen need FSO

to be disabled more than games that don't have a borderless option ?
