2020-12-03T08:11:02+00:00 Looks like you are up to date, the only issue that I can think of is you have multiple mouse software installed.
If you have any other mouse software (Multiple Software) that is installed, such as Logitech or touchpad software, that software may conflict with the default windows Mouse software.
If you have any software like that go to the Control panel > Program and Features and uninstall and try if that works or not.

2020-12-09T09:11:54+00:00 I have disconnected my Kensington trackball and also uninstalled the Kensington works software. Since then the mouse setting didn't get changed. Looks like multiple mice was the issue here. I'll be able to know for sure if the setting remains the same in the long run. Thank yu Ru for your help.
