I prefer to keep my mouse scroll set to 3 lines in my windows 10 desktop. But the system randomly increases it to something like 11 or 19. I bring it back to 3. But it does not stay more than a few hours. Please help.

This is what Windows does:

I change it back to 3:

I have already done that a few weeks ago. I checked now as well. No firmware updates are necessary. Any other ideas?

Can you let me know the version of windows 10 that you are using?

    Press Windows Key + R

Type "winver" in the dialog box

record the version number from the second row

Looks like you are up to date, the only issue that I can think of is you have multiple mouse software installed.

If you have any other mouse software (Multiple Software) that is installed, such as Logitech or touchpad software, that software may conflict with the default windows Mouse software.

If you have any software like that go to the Control panel > Program and Features and uninstall and try if that works or not.

I have disconnected my Kensington trackball and also uninstalled the Kensington works software. Since then the mouse setting didn't get changed. Looks like multiple mice was the issue here. I'll be able to know for sure if the setting remains the same in the long run. Thank yu Ru for your help.
