"System" process using too much disk

Hello

My computer has been very slow for about 2 months now. It had a very slow startup time and disk usage was about 100% all the time.I did a lot of research and didn't find a solution. I found out the system process used majority of disk. I got the startup problem solved through the Microsoft Community but the disk usage problem now got worse. My computer is a lot more slower and laggy. My son isn't able to take any classes on it which is a big problem. Any solution?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3576 with an Intel core i3, 1TB Toshiba MQ01ABD100 HDD,12GB RAM

Thanks in advance

Good Day Jyothi,

I appreciate your time getting back to this thread, it appears that there are multiple anti-virus installed, in your device , it shows McAfee and Avast , I highly suggest for you to uninstall one of them because it is not advisable to run multiple anti-virus at the same time it can cause conflicts with the two.

It shows that most of the Disk usage is from your System, scan you device using the free version of Malwarebytes scanner to check if there are malwares or adware running in your system.

Here's the link to download.

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thank...

Once downloaded and installed, open the app and perform a scan and check for malware infection.

After the scan restart your computer using cleanboot and observe the performance.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

Sincerely,

    Hi Carlo

I installed the software you had sent and ran a full scan. It found many PUP's and 2 Trojan viruses! I never know how they got into my PC! I instantly deleted them all. I am yet to perform the Clean Boot. Do you think it would have stolen my personal details or damaged my PC?

In the process of finding why System process used too much disk Thanks to you I found PUPs and Viruses on my PC. Thanks a Ton for all your help!
