Quick Scan Due

Anonymous

This is a new laptop. For several days the Windows Security notification says "Actions recommended." When clicked, Defender reads Quick Scan Due. The dots move left to right but the scan doesn't happen--even after many hours and numerous restarts.

This pc is running Windows in S Mode. There is no option to manually run a scan.

Hello ,

No need to take the computer back to the store, this problem with Windows Defender is known, a fix should fix the problem definitively, my advice is to be patient, to regularly monitor the pc for updates.

Best regards

    Hello Grandpa,
    I'm independent advisor,
Have you ever viewed this forum thread?
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/for...
As Rob Koch indicated this problem is related to the fact that your Windows is not up to date, since it has a new computer, I invite you to make all the important updates proposed in Windows Update .
You need to go to Start Menu> Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update. Check for update.
    More infos here :
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upd...
After updating your pc and restarting it see if the notification appears again.
    Best regards

I see that 87 other people report the same issue.

Alas, like many others, I find that an update corrects the anomaly--for all of a few minutes. Then it starts again.

    Thanks for the links!
