Teams Desktop error. "The specified list is invalid", "the specified list might have been deleted or you might not have permission to view it"

Hi,

I have an issue where the files option is not bringing up my files within Teams, This issue persists on Mobile devices and both laptop(Win10) and desktop(Win10. Others in my team can view the files without issue.

I have tried to resolve by clearing the %appdata% folders listed in the other Answers, but the issue remains.  I have tried incognito mode (at request of support), but as it presents on multiple platforms I didn't hold much hope, and yes, the issue is still the same.

I have tried different browsers, also the desktop app and browser versions.

Please can somebody check to see if there is something wrong with the link from my account to the file store (wherever that may be)

    Hi Alice,

May I know what type of Microsoft Teams are you using? Is it Teams free?

Regarding your problem, we have received some feedback about the problem "The specified list is Invalid. The specified list might have been deleted or you might not have permission to view it. Contact the site owner for more information". However, we diagnosed and found that the issue is with user's ISP. When users switched to a different network, they were able to access the files from Teams App as well as the SharePoint Admin portal successfully. You may first try to change to another network to see if the problem can be resolved. And please also contact your admin and let them check if there any block in your firewall configuration which may also cause such a problem.

    Best Regards,

    Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

When selecting the drop downs to actually post an issue I had to select which version of Teams it was regarding, if your page is not propagating that information into a place you can view, that needs to be resolved or there is no point in asking before we post -  It is the Free version.

The issue occurred before ISP change, due to Covid. And if changing ISP will stop Teams loading files - That would shock me as people moving around the planet would then lose access.

The network is set up with no firewall settings blocking - Other members of the Team are able to access the files on the same network as myself.   Again re-iterating that this is over all devices I have - Mobile (android), laptop (win10), Desktop (win10) and would expect the file access to have appeared on the Mobile device much sooner if the ISP was ever going to be the issue.

These are on home networks set as private no Public - And again - We have a test case on our network that can view the files.

    Hi AliceT_1989,

    Thanks for your reply.

From your updates, I understand that the problem only happened to you and it affected all devices. Based on my knowledge,  the files in Teams are stored in SharePoint > Documents. Regarding your problem, I'd like to see whether the problem happened in Teams or SharePoint. To check it, please follow the steps below to open the SharePoint:

    1.  Open the channel that you encountered problem in.

    2.  At the right corner, click More options button and then select Open in SharePoint.

    3.  Then a page will pop up and you can sign in with your account.

In the SharePoint, please check if you have the same issue here and please share the result with me.

    Regards,

    Seven

    Good afternoon Seven,

Sadly I do not appear to have that option : And having checked with others in my Teams they too have now got the same issue. It appears that the Teams are now disassociated with the Onedrive / Sharepoint they were originally attached to.

    Hi Alice,

    Thanks for your reply.

Firstly, I'm sorry that I made a mistake. For Teams free, it is a normal behavior that no such option when clicking More options for a channel. To open it in SharePoint for Teams free, we can click the Filetab and select Copy link > SharePoint, then copy the link and open it in the browser. Since you can't access the tab and other users of the team are able to access the files, please let another team member send the link to you and you try to open it in the browser. Then check if you can access the files there.

If you need more help, please provide the following information to me for further assistance:

    1.  If other users are able to access the files, please try signing in to Teams on another member's PC with your account and check the result.

    2.  Please collect the debug logs and then send the log file to me in Private Message for further analysis.

    Thanks for your time.

    Regards,

    Seven
