Issue with Bot Created in Copilot Studio Not Working in Microsoft Teams

Hello,

I have created a bot using Copilot Studio and integrated it into Microsoft Teams. However, when I try to interact with the bot in Teams, it does not function as expected and throws an error.

Here are the steps I followed:

  1. Created the bot in Copilot Studio.
  2. Integrated the bot into Microsoft Teams following the official guidelines.
  3. Tried to interact with the bot in a Teams channel.

Unfortunately, the bot fails to respond correctly and an error message is displayed. The error details are as follows:

  • Sorry, something unexpected happened. We’re looking into it. Error code: SystemError. Conversation ID: a:1JK-55fWWLJGavR7ZblTBP1o-gYUevPpLeKnCtroFR4n9PXH9ma-0r_BOd20Y0NCXFqwpZrehrsc_etV_NXqhdNtJgnaor8DRexST7ZojcX2iQCzVF2GbmHmDdQ4u3YJ4. Time (UTC): 5/22/2024 11:19:22 AM.

I have double-checked the integration steps and ensured all permissions and configurations are set correctly. Despite this, the issue persists.

Can someone please help me troubleshoot this issue? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

    Hi Q,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. The error message you're encountering ("SystemError") in Teams indicates an unexpected issue on Microsoft's end. Here's how you can troubleshoot the problem:

    Check Copilot Studio for Updates:

Make sure Copilot Studio itself is up-to-date. New updates might address known bugs causing such errors.

    Verify Bot Permissions:

Even though you double-checked, it's worth reviewing the bot's permissions again in Azure Active Directory. Ensure the bot has the necessary permissions to access any data or resources it needs to function (e.g., SharePoint data).

    Consider Authentication Method:

By default, Copilot bots use Azure Active Directory (AAD) for authentication. If your bot requires access to external resources, you might need to configure a different authentication method (e.g., manual authentication) in Copilot Studio.

    Report the Issue:

Since the error code points towards a potential system issue, consider reporting it to Microsoft directly. Include the conversation ID and error details you provided here. You can usually report issues through the Microsoft Teams admin centre or support channels.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give back to the Community. Help the next person who has this issue by indicating if this reply solved your problem. Click Yes or No below. Best Regards, Furkaan

I think this thread might be better progressed if ideas could be presented as to the approach to take in debugging the problem.

Some ideas I have been experimenting with include using Topics to generate emails so I can track a) which Topic is being invoked that might point to the underlying problem and b) allow diagnostic data be made available.

It looks to me that CoPilot Studio is still too new for there to be much in the forums on the various problems being encountered.

However, sharing approaches on how to debug root causes would be a good place to start.

For now, much I what is being presented is just a simple rehash of the online guides from MS on how to develop with the tool.

PS. I have been having the same problem and exploring if the error topic is getting triggered ... so far it appears not ... which leads to the question, what is it for then?

I have the same issue, sometimes i get an answer that is correct and sometimes I just get "Sorry, something unexpected happened. We’re looking into it. Error code: SystemError." Most of the time its the error message. Why this is and how to fix it would be very helpful.

I am having the same issue where sometimes it answers correctly and sometimes I get that error. The persists only for some questions. Would you have any idea what is causing it/how to fix it?
