Infinite login loop on https://login.microsoftonline.com

I've been trying to login to my microsoft account but keeps asking for my login information after I filled it in correctly

I've tried logging in using my password, a pin and the microsoft authenticator. All of them loop.

I've tried the steps of this page using Chrome, Firefox and edge: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-sign-in/sign-in-loop

I've tried logging in on 3 different laptops and 2 separate android devices, all of them keep looping.

I have tried accessing my account through the links in the windows store, outlook, the xbox app, anything I could think of. All of them loop through the login screen.

Thing is, I've been logged in and it DOES log me in again. except for me being unable to manage my account to for instance change my password or manage my subscriptions. On that screen it says there is a logged in account I can use for which I'll have to re-enter my password. Only for it to loop back to the enter your email page again.

Logging out of my account an logging back in doesnt work either. It seems to log me back in to my account on the site itself, but It still starts looping when I try to manage my account.

It's an issue our charity has been suffering for some time. No fixes provided seem to work and we always have a number of users that are unable to log onto the system at any one time.

There seems to be no way of just using a username and password only.

As Microsoft are either not able or willing to sort the issue out, our committee are looking to move away from O365 to another system.

It's a shame as if you can get logged on it's brilliant, but completely useless when you can not

It's now to late for our charity. The decision has been made to move away, we gave it a couple of years and no joy. O365 is now a hated product by the users because of the login loop issue.

I had the same issue and performed the following troubleshooting steps with no success: clear cache, reset password, try different browser. These are all the steps Microsoft will tell you and will provide zero help.

Solution: go to Windows settings-> Time and Language-> Date and Time-> check if your time is set automatically or if it is turned off.

If off= turn on and then click Sync, this will sync your computer to time.microsoft.com and then it will clear your issue.

if off but cant turn on due to organization settings= run regedit as admin, go to " Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\LocationAndSensors "

Right click on DisableLocation-> click on modify-> value data should be "0" and hexidecimal-> ok

then go back to above and turn on/sync

This solution took me 3 hours to find so I hope it works for you as well. Please note that this will only work for personal machines and not in a corporate setting. If you are having and issue on your corporate machine contact your IT dept for a solution.

Just In case anyone else runs into this problem. I reposted this and found the solution myself afterwards:

    link to the thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/infinite-login-loop-on/3fe93837-9b82-47ad-9a4e-21a24bdaf7fc

    Solution I found:

"The microsoft sign-in helper I reached through

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact

    Gave me the solution!

Through there, a diagnostic was run on my account which told me it was locked due to multiple failed sign in attempts.

I still think its odd It looped me back to login instead of telling me my account was locked. But changing my password solved the problem :)"

    TL:DR
    Try changing your password

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It seem that you're experiencing login issues with your Microsoft account. This issue could be caused by a number of factors, including browser cache and cookies, network connectivity issues, or a problem with your account settings. Let's work on this together in finding the best possible solution to your concern.

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask some questions, such as:

    • Are you getting any error when you sign in your account? if you are just getting a Loop, kindly send us a sample screenshot of the looping
    • About your statement "On that screen it says there is a logged in account I can use for which I'll have to re-enter my password", do you recognize the logged in account?

While waiting for your response, I recommend trying the following steps:

    1. Clear your browser cache and cookies. This can often resolve login issues. If you are using Microsoft Edge as your default browser. You can find instructions on this article Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support
    2. Try logging in from a different network. This can help determine if the issue is related to your network or not.
    3. Use private browsing mode: Open a private browsing or incognito window in your browser and try logging in again. This can help rule out any conflicts caused by cached data or extensions.

I hope this helps resolve your login issue. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y
