Synchronizing subscribed folders Error Message 0X800CCCOE

I get this error message whenever I open Outlook App on my PC (Windows 10, Microsoft 365)

With guidance from a forum user, I attempted an online repair through Control Panel. Next, I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft 365. Unfortunately, my issue remains.

I am hoping another forum user can offer some insight on how to proceed without the need to repeat all of the attempts taken so far.

Thank you.

    Hello Lorac,

I'm Ibhadighi and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

The error message 0x800CCC0E in Outlook typically indicates that the program cannot synchronize subscribed folders with the server. This is usually due to connectivity issues, either on the email server's end or with your network connection.

Here's a simplified list of steps to troubleshoot this error:

    1. Make sure you're connected to the internet and that your connection is stable.
    2. Verify the status of the iCloud services to ensure they are operational. You can visit the Apple System Status page to do this.
    3. Verify Email Settings:
      • Ensure your account settings are correct. This includes incoming and outgoing server settings (IMAP and SMTP), port numbers, and encryption methods.
      • For iCloud, the incoming mail server should generally be set to imap.mail.me.com (using SSL, port 993), and the outgoing mail server should be smtp.mail.me.com (using SSL, port 587).
    4. Sometimes firewall or antivirus programs can block Outlook's ability to connect. Temporarily disable these to see if the issue is resolved.
    5. Increase Server Timeouts: In Outlook, you can increase the server timeout setting, which might help if the problem is due to slow network connections.
      • Go to **File > Account Settings > Account Settings**.
      • Double-click on your iCloud account.
      • Click on 'More Settings' and go to the 'Advanced' tab to increase server timeout.
    6. It's possible that your Outlook profile is corrupted. Create a new profile and set it up with your iCloud account to see if this resolves the issue.
    7. Use SCANPST.EXE: Outlook includes a repair tool called SCANPST.EXE that can fix issues with .pst files.
      • Close Outlook and search for SCANPST.EXE on your computer.
      • Run the tool and browse for your Outlook .pst file (usually in Documents\Outlook Files) to scan and repair errors.
    8. Make sure both Windows and Office are up to date. Sometimes compatibility issues can cause problems with synchronization.

Remember to back up your Outlook data before making any significant changes to avoid data loss.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards, Ibhadighi

Ibhadighi: Thank you for your reply.  I am making my way through your list to steps.  I have completed #1 and #2.

#3 asks me to Verify Email Settings: - Ensure your account settings are correct. This includes incoming and outgoing server settings (IMAP and SMTP), port numbers, and encryption methods. - For iCloud, the incoming mail server should generally be set to imap.mail.me.com (using SSL, port 993), and the outgoing mail server should be smtp.mail.me.com (using SSL, port 587).

I am not sure how to do this.  I opened Outlook > File > Account Settings > Change Existing Account Settings > Change.  Am I on the right page?  I cannot see anywhere to check the IMAP and SMTP settings.

    Please advice.

    Hello Lorac,

Yes, you are on the right page to verify your email settings in Outlook. Here's how to check the IMAP and SMTP settings:

    1. IMAP Settings:
      • In the change account window, there should be a button called "More Settings" or "Advanced Settings". Click it.
    2. Advanced Tab:
      • Within this section, you will find the server settings for both incoming and outgoing servers (IMAP and SMTP).
      • Verify that the incoming server (IMAP) is set to imap.mail.me.com and is using SSL encryption on port 993.
      • Check that the outgoing server (SMTP) is set to smtp.mail.me.com and is using SSL encryption on port 587.
    3. Outgoing Server Tab:
      • Ensure that the 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is checked.
      • Make sure 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected.

After making the necessary adjustments, save the changes and restart Outlook to see if the issue has been resolved. If these settings are not visible, you might need to navigate through additional options or tabs within the account settings window to locate them.

    Best Regards, Ibhadighi

thank you again for your reply.

I clicked on “Repair” but it would not allow me to repair Outlook.com, so I attempted iCloud.com.  I clicked on “Advanced” and got the following screens.

I clicked on "Next" and got the following message.

    Please advice. thank you.
